On this site you can ask for recommendations for things in East Dulwich (cycle repairs shops, hairdressers, builder's, curtain makers etc.) or just generally find out more about what's on around East Dulwich (yoga classes etc).

Having a look on there it seems that the M&S rumour may be just that.

However, I did come across some interesting info. I went past the Dulwich Brasserie one evening last week and noticed it was closed and looked like it might have shut down (which is hardly surprising really, I found it to be lacking in atmosphere, good food and decent service). From the postings on movethat it sounds like it may be turning into a Gourmet Burger Kitchen...is this true?

Venturing out from SE22

Had a great night out up the road in Crystal Palace over the weekend. Happy hour cocktails at Domali (half price 6-8pm) followed by a lovely meal at Lorenzo's. I love that place. Proper old school Italian, lively and good value too. I can recommend the penna arribiata and the house red is pretty solid. Domali too is just great, although at it's best when you can sit in the lovely garden out the back. It's also particularly good on a Sunday night when the have a DJ playing chilled out tunes (or at least they did have a few months ago).

http://www.domali.co.uk/

http://www.lorenzo.uk.com/

Jamie Oliver on Bellenden Road

Did anyone else see the filming going on on Bellenden Road on Tuesday evening? Most notably, the new renovations to Dulwich Park, which were a long time coming. Lovely new tennis courts (tried and tested by myself this week), pedaloes on the boating lake, and a huge expanse of lawn that was formerly the football pitch, which now looks quite barren after weeks of little rain. There's also the great tarmac path all the way around which is brilliant for rollerblading.

I haven't noticed many new additions to the eating/boozing scene of late, but have been haunting the usual suspects. Had a delicious curry in Dulwich Tandoori the other night. I can recommend the veggie dhansak, but the tandoori fish came as a bit of a shock when a whole trout arrived on the table. My favourites at the moment are the Magdala on a Tuesday (2 for 1 pizza and a nice suntrap out the back) and the ever faithful Rye - with wonderful thai food and great hospitality, not to mention a great garden, you just can't go wrong.

I would be interested to hear anything about Springers...every time I try to check it out it's closed. And also the Drum, what's that like?

And there is a rumour on the street that M&S is coming to Lordship Lane. Can anyone shed any light on this?
